The rifle is also available in 4 different configurations allowing you to tailor the look of the rifle to your own tastes and needs as a shooter.

There is no better .22 on the market and is perfect for practical shooters or part time plinkers alike.

This is the entry level Smith and Wesson M&P rifle. This does not mean its a slouch! All of the guns in the range feature the same specifications (Bar Performance Center). The gun features a 16.5″ Match Grade Carbon Steel barrel, which is exactly the same in the MOE models. The main body of the gun including the upper/lower and hand-guard are comprised of a tough polymer. This material is incredibly strong and resilient and not prone to stress damage unlike other light metal .22 AR rifles. This also makes the rifle very light at around 5lbs in weight.

The rifle comes fully kitted with adjustable front/rear sights, AR grip and 6 position stock. It also comes boxed with x1 25 round capacity magazine, so you have everything you need to go to the range in the box. Barring ammo of course.

These guns shoot incredibly well and will digest a number of different ammo brands including Blazer, CCI Standard and many more. They will post excellent groups and function like a real AR15. As a dedicated trainer this gun has been adopted by law enforcement in the US, to run along side the .223/5.56 versions of this firearm and from a distance is hard to tell between the two.

An excellent model well worth the attention of those looking to add custom parts later on as the cheaper entry price will save money for those precious AR goodies later on.

Smith and Wesson M&P1522 MOE (Black)

Smith and Wesson MOE Black

Specs:

  • Barrel : 16.5″ Carbon Steel
  • Twist Rate 1 in 15
  • Magpul MOE Stock 6 Position
  • Magpul MBUS Adjustable Front Sight
  • Magpul MBUS Adjustable Rear Sight

The Smith and Wesson M&P1522 MOE Black comes with all of the great features of the standard model firearm, but with an additional twist. Smith and Wesson have geared the rifle out with a range of Magpul products. Plus an additional single point sling mount, which is ambidextrous and pop/push fit!

The rifle has been given a new stock, which is from the MOE series. The stock offers the same 6 position functionality of the standard stock, but offers tighter lock up and decreased weight. The styling is also much more tactical and is exactly the same as stocks found on most .223/5.56 counterparts.

The MOE pistol grip is very comfortable and offers increased grip surface and a better feel than the standard model. It also features a storage compartment underneath which allows the user to hold extra ammo or firing pins etc in the grip body itself.

The main addition to the rifle however, is the inclusion of a full set of Magpul MBUS pop-up sights. These are some of the best back-up sights available in the industry. They collapse down to allow the operator to use a main optic in addition to these iron sights. They will also co-witness with many red dot optics including EO-TECH/Aimpoint/ Vortex and many more. This means, if your main optic is damaged or runs out of battery mid shoot, you will be able to pop these iron sights up into position and carry on shooting without removing the main optic from the rifle.

This model of the rifle offers around £200+ worth of extras for £100 more than the standard model, giving you a potential saving of £100+ on the Magpul goodies. So if you like the look of these parts and were thinking about kitting a standard model out with a few hop up parts, this is the model for you.

Smith and Wesson M&P1522 Performance Center Rifle. This is the flagship rifle of the M&P range featuring a few different options from the other rifles in the range. The package includes 3 very noticeable differences.

The Barrel has been switched to a varmint profile fluted unit. This changes resonance and also saves weight on the increased diameter.

The stock is changed to the excellent VLTOR stock, which has strong lock up properties and also features 2 battery compartments which will house AA or Camera Type batteries for all of your optics. These are fully waterproof. The stock also has a grippy rubber recoil pad on the back, giving the shooter a more positive gun mount.

The final difference is a Rock River 2-stage trigger unit, which retails for £200+ on its own. The trigger offers a crisp/clean break and is a marked improvement on the original unit. This is in light of the Performance Center being a target gun rather than a practical or training rifle.

If you are looking for a gun to shoot target and disciplines that require more accuracy, then this will be the model for you.
